Red Dead Redemption 2 new ending discovery reminds us Rockstar is on another level

Red Dead Redemption 2 new ending discovery reminds us Rockstar is on another level

Few do it quite like Rockstar Games

Just when we think we know all that there is to know about Red Dead Redemption 2, another fan discovers details we missed.

One such discovery is a subtle yet powerful parallel between Arthur and John, further confirming that few – if any – publishers can compete with Rockstar Games when it comes to storytelling.

There are plenty of “secrets” that will change the game’s ending, be it because it offers a new piece of information you’d previously overlooked, or because you discovered the “final” ending of this emotive tale.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is incredible, so much so that we never tire of seeing its launch trailer. How about you?

The latest secret wowing the Red Dead Redemption 2 fandom is the way in which Arthur and John’s experiences mirror each other.

During Arthur’s rescue of John, the beloved protagonist is approached by three wolves coming over the horizon; at the end of the game, when John is trying to avenge Arthur, three men approach him in the same formation.

It’s subtle – to the point it’s easily missed – yet once you see it, it adds another layer of heartache we're not emotionally ready for.

Such a “cool parallel” has fans wishing they could play the game afresh, “What I wouldn't give to go into this game completely blind again and pick up on all those things for the first time,” shared a player.

Elsewhere, someone said, “This is a great post. No explanation [is needed], yet [it’s] completely revealing.”

Seeing the images side by side, the symbolism steeped into the very pixels of the scenes, makes for a poignant moment of realisation. “Arthur saves John from wolves, and then John avenged Arthur against ‘wolves’.”

We hope that GTA VI is half the game that Red Dead Redemption 2 is; if Rockstar manages that, it will be unstoppable despite its controversies.
