Pokémon TCG Pocket players find game's 'Exodia'

Try it out for yourself

Pokémon TCG Pocket players have discovered a specific card set-up that's oddly reminiscent of Exodia from Yu-Gi-Oh!

If you haven’t downloaded Pokémon TCG Pocket yet I’d highly recommend it, as even if you’ve never opened a real-life pack of Pokémon cards you’ll find some enjoyment in the new app.

Take a look at the app for yourself below

When you’re not opening up a new pack for your collection though you can also participate in battles with other players, and one such player believes they’ve found the Pokémon version of Exodia.

If you’ve never played Yu-Gi-Oh before, Exodia is essentially an instant win strategy. When all five cards, each one a piece of Exodia, are in your hand you can activate them and win the game immediately, there’s nothing the opposing player can do to stop it.

While there’s no such strategy in Pokémon TCG Pocket, one player, karlatog on Reddit, shared a screenshot of their game featuring Snorlax as the game’s forbidden one.

To be exact, it’s a Snorlax card that has a full-art variant featuring Oddish, Bellsprout and Venonat.

What the player did was play those four Pokémon in such a way that it completed the artwork on the board rather than having to inspect the Snorlax card, like they’d assembled the legs, arms and torso of Exodia in Yu-Gi-Oh.

It’s a fun little callback, but fear not as Snorlax and their buddies are not an instant win strategy…

For the most part players have been impressed with the battle side of Pokémon TCG Pocket, though some believe the game is a bit too pay-to-win at the moment to allow casual players the chance to win many battles.

Nevertheless Pokémon TCG Pocket is a fine mobile game, and a must-play for fans of the series and newcomers to the card game.
