The prospect of Uncharted 5 becoming a reality is looking increasingly likely and fans are understandably hyped.

It looks like the patience of Uncharted fans may soon pay off, if what recent rumours are leading us to believe.

It’s been nearly 10 years since the original release of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End on the PlayStation 4 in 2016, which was then followed by the spin-off, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, the following year.

It’s gotten to the point that fans have waited so long, many feared that The Last of Us developer, Naughty Dog and publisher Sony Interactive Entertainment may have abandoned the endlessly charming Nathan Drake and friends, which would be a crime against gaming.

Earlier this week, Naughty Dog chief Neil Druckmann revealed that a second game is in development alongside the upcoming Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, which he won't be involved with directly but instead as an advisor, of sorts.

Of course, this second game could very well be The Last of Us Part III, which would be awesome. Yet, a lot of fans are hoping that it could be Uncharted 5.

That being said, there’s also a chance that the second game might not even be The Last of Us Part III or Uncharted 5. However, a recent rumour has at least indicated that the secret game is an AAA title and not a smaller project.

In a tweet brought to our attention by MBG on Twitter, notable video game industry insider, Shinobi602, was replying to a user on ResetEra when asked, “Sounds like it's a smaller project”, to which he simply replied, “No”.

“They are absolutely cooking. I think Intergalactic is going to be a banger,” said 50PlusGamer1970, replying to MBG.

“It’s Uncharted,” said an optimistic WxManKyle.

“I hope it’s Uncharted 5 or The Last of Us Part III,” exclaimed Lyttlefat.

We should keep in mind to take all unconfirmed rumours with a pinch of salt until proven otherwise, but we’ll be sure to update you as soon as we learn more.

While The Last of Us Part III and Uncharted 5 haven't been officially announced, it’s expected that Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet could be released in 2027.
