Uncharted 5 Lead Character Has Gamers Split

Another adventure awaits

Uncharted fans are split on who the lead character for the fifth game should be, but if you ask us there’s only one obvious choice.

Uncharted is one of PlayStation’s most iconic franchises, but it’s been a hot minute since we last had a new game in the series.

When the franchise made its debut on PC in 2022, there was talk about this possibly being a sign that Sony is speeding up work on the next big Uncharted game.

However, nothing has officially been announced yet, despite there being rumours suggesting that Uncharted 5 is still in the works. We can only hope.

Whether it’s true or not, that hasn’t stopped speculation from players regarding who should lead the next game. Some fans believe that it should be Nathan Drake or Chloe Frazer, while others would prefer a new protagonist.

A poll posted on the Uncharted Reddit page has asked this very question, posting a poll with five possible choices.

In the lead is Cassie Drake, the daughter of Nate and Elena who makes a brief playable appearance at the end of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End.

This vote is followed by Nathan, and then Chloe. Finally, the last two votes are reserved for new protagonists, male or female. It’s clear that fans would prefer an existing character to take up the lead role.

“CHARLIE CUTTTER!!!!” writes one passionate fan in the replies. “Such a great character used for like 5 minutes and then he breaks his leg and f***s off like what the hell???? bring him back!!!”

“At the end of Uncharted 4 Sully mentions a ‘business deal’ he’s been working on and says that Sam can join him,” writes another fan. “I think they should make a game about that. With Sully as the sidekick like before and Sam as the main character.”

“There's no option on here to vote for ‘Uncharted 4 ended the franchise beautifully and I don't want them to beat a dead horse and make more games for the sake of keeping the IP alive, creating souless shells of the game we once loved, destroying the entire brand in the process’. Looking at you Halo,” writes a third fan.

As I wrote earlier this year, I fully believe that Cassie as the new protagonist of the Uncharted series is where Naughty Dog may head next. However, I also believe that this doesn’t mean Nate and Elena need to retire from the series, either.
