I’m almost certain I can speak on behalf of all of us when I say that precisely no one is ready for the PlayStation 6.
The PlayStation 5 remains an impressive console, one with so much life left within it.
In fact, the only real criticism that springs to mind regarding the PS5 is the complaint that it has “no games”.
Of course, that’s nonsense; the PS5 has plenty of games. Astro Bot, Death Stranding 2: On The Beach, Ghost of Yōtei, and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 all spring to mind.

Personally, I’d throw in Horizon Forbidden West and God of War Ragnarök as well, even if they did receive outgoing gen versions.
Still, I do agree that this console generation has unfulfilled potential, and it looks as if Sony itself is thinking much the same.
The PlayStation 6 Will Arrive in 2029, Claims Insider
According to a newly surfaced claim, the PS6 will be launching in 2029, three years from now.
This comes from insider Detective Seeds who has previously made this claim but recently took to Twitter/X to revalidate it.
“PS6 - 2029 release window target is showing to be spot on,” he began.
“The info I shared last year came directly from an engineer at Playstation. I know 2027 had been shared, but as of summer last year, 2029 was the year window I was given for its release with the handheld coming before.”

Naturally, I do have to urge you to take this information with a pinch of salt. What Detective Seeds has said sounds plausible if he does indeed know an engineer at PlayStation, but that information cannot be verified.
As I said, I’m sure this news will come as a relief to many as no one’s exactly been able to justify why we should move on from the PS5 era.
The hardware remains impressive and there is, if you want, the PlayStation 5 Pro available which can offer a technical boost.
In terms of game releases, I just can’t believe Naughty Dog would want to sit an entire generation out without releasing something that isn’t a remaster or remake.
This all but guarantees that Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet will be a PS5 title, and let’s not forget the studio is cooking up a second secret project.

It’s widely assumed Guerrilla is working on both the next mainline Horizon instalment and a multiplayer spin-off, with Santa Monica thought to be working on a new God of War or an original IP.
Both studios have launched games within this generation but if the PS5 era was to end in 2029, that would make this generation nine years long.
It’s not far-fetched to assume that we could see major studios drop a second major AAA launch before the generation is up.
Surprisingly, the response to this news is mixed. PlayStation fans aren’t ready for the PS6, but they don’t want to wait three years either.
“So they are going to let Microsoft have two-plus years on the market lead time with the next Xbox? Sounds crazy to me. Also the PS5 can barely run some of the games coming out NOW well,” replied just_games1984.
“If it’s 2029 then damn, that’s far too late for new hardware,” added BrizGz.
“Nice, 2027 is too soon,” countered rockstationonx.
You just can’t please everyone.
