PlayStation 5 users can enjoy a free slice of a highly-rated mystery game, and you don’t need PlayStation Plus to get involved.
Indie title What Have You Done, Father? has dropped a free demo on the PlayStation Store, and while it may not be a title that’s on your radar, it’s seemingly not one to miss.
Developed by Darkania Works, this “dark murder mystery” is a classic whodunnit, using visual novel gameplay as you attempt to find the crook behind a grisly murder.
“Embark on the frightening adventure of a young priest entangled in a forbidden affair with a beautiful lady who meets a gruesome end. Lust, wrath, murder, despair,” teases the synopsis.

You’ll step into the shoes of Father Mathias Marton, “a revered priest caught in a web of forbidden desires and sinister events”.
You’ll have to navigate through a “corrupt rectory”, confronting your own demons as you “navigate the lines between sin and salvation”.
As mentioned, there’s a mystery woman involved - a dead one, actually. The game’s central thread concerns who this woman was, what happened to her, and “why did you taste the forbidden fruit?”

It sounds like Father Mathias has been doing things he shouldn’t.
While What Have You Done, Father? does include visual novel elements, and players will also have to solve light environmental puzzles as they explore their surroundings.
The rectory is full of intriguing NPCs who may be able to help you with your enquiries by delving into their pasts.

“Considering the fact that I wouldn't usually call something from this genre ‘my kind of game,’ I have to say I was impressed. If nothing else, the story is certainly very original,” added another.
“Another remarkable masterpiece from this developer. The visuals are, of course, stunning, but the depth and maturity of the story really set it apart from what you would normally find polluting Steam's endless gaming library,” read one review.
While you’ll have to part with £10.99 to unlock the full version of this game, a free demo has, as mentioned, landed on the PlayStation Store.
