There are a lot of action RPGs out there right now, many of them very good, so it can be difficult for a new release to get its head above the parapet to stand out in a very competitive field.
Well one is on the way that could do just that, and there's a free download associated with it that you should take advantage of if you're a fan of the genre.
Anima: Gate of Memories I & II Remaster is an upcoming third-person action RPG that brings the world of Gaia from the Anima: Beyond Fantasy RPG table-top books to a new medium (well, at least the original versions did so).
In the developer's own words, "Anima weaves together two fates—one of a legendary monster and a mysterious girl with no memory of her past, the other of an immortal soul cursed to wander the world forever.

"Their existence will take an unexpected turn when they discover that all of them have been involved in something sinister, a war in the shadows in which they will have an involuntary leading role in opposing sides of the table."
The original game released back in 2016, with the pseudo-sequel Anima: Gate of Memories - The Nameless Chronicles following up two years later. Both were relatively well-received, without truly breaking through into the mainstream, but this remaster could give both games the tools they need to build on their solid foundations.
One of the coolest things that it had going for it was the combat, which should appeal to those who like fast-paced action and relentless enemies. The dual system it features allows you to reel off some pretty mad combos, as well as swap in different characters with a single button to deepen your fighting prowess even further.
Even if you've had no contact with the TTRPG, the story is rich in lore that the game introduces to the player at an easily digestible rate, so you shouldn't find yourself wondering what's going on at any point.

Many of the RPG elements come via the game's character system, with each usable figure having a large set of unique skills that you will continue to develop throughout your journey.
Though it doesn't have a release date on the PS5 just yet, there is a demo you can download right now, to see if you like the cut of its jib.
PC players can get a little more excited, because they both have a demo available to download now, as well as a release date for the full game of 7 November.
