It’s time to hang the ‘welcome home’ banners. After 11 long and agonising years (I’m being a tad dramatic), Sly Cooper has returned to PlayStation consoles.

Unfortunately, no, that’s not in the way of a new instalment but hey, this is the next best thing.

You might want to think about upgrading to PlayStation Plus’ premium tier because yes, PlayStation 2 emulation has finally arrived.

Sony’s annual Days of Play event is finally underway.

If you’re not familiar with it, the event essentially sees PlayStation users gain access to free offerings and great deals for a limited time.

This year, Days of Play includes what Sony is referring to as an “oversized” PlayStation Plus game drop, including the addition of several PlayStation 2 titles.

It’s what users have been dreaming of for months on end - and the initial PlayStation 2 line-up doesn’t disappoint.

PlayStation Plus premium members will, from 11 June, gain access to Tomb Raider Legend, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus.

AEW Fight Forever is set to land on the essential tier.

It goes without saying that this opens an enormous doorway in terms of what games we could see arrive on PlayStation Plus next from the PS2 era.

Personally, I’d love to play the native versions of the God of War franchise’s earlier entries.

The premium tier is also set to gain several PS VR2 titles from 6 June.

Those are: Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord, Walkabout Mini Golf, Synth Riders, Before Your Eyes, and The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners – Chapters 1 & 2.

A new premium trial for WWE 2K 24 is also set to join the tier from today.

As for the extra catalogue, that’ll be updated with the addition of Dredge today, LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2 on 31 May, Cricket 24 on 5 June, and GTA: San Andreas - The Definitive Edition on 7 June.

The essential tier gains SpongeBob Squarepants: The Cosmic Shake, AEW Fight Forever, and Streets of Rage 4 on 4 June.

All in all, something for everyone.
