PlayStation Plus users have been warned about an impending announcement that could come from Sony.

As we gear up for April’s PlayStation Plus game reveals, fans are being urged to be cautious regarding any leaks or news regarding what those titles could be.

Sony typically releases new batches of PlayStation Plus Essential offerings on the first Tuesday of the month, with the announcement coming on the preceding Wednesday.

Most of the time, this means the announcements fall on the last Wednesday of the previous month. However, next month’s games will instead be announced on 1 April on account of 8 April being the first Tuesday of the month.

Be Careful Regarding April Fool's Day PlayStation Plus Pranks

As any news writer can attest to, there’s likely going to be some misinformation being passed around under the guise of an “April Fool’s joke”, which is why users are being warned to be careful regarding any PlayStation Plus news in the next week.

“I see a lot of confusion there. Essential games are released on the first Tuesday of the month, which is April 7,” reads a post on the PlayStation Plus Reddit page. “And announced on Wednesday week before, which is April 1st, not today.”

A user in the comments followed up with: “On April fools, this should be a good one.”

It’s not unusual for misinformation to be spread around as a result of April Fool’s Day, especially stuff that is being disguised as real news. Some game companies even have fun with it, releasing joke content or surprise ‘announcements’ which are then later revealed to be April Fool’s activity.

If precedent remains, we’ll hear from Sony about what the actual PlayStation Plus Essential games for April 2026 are, and I wouldn’t pay any attention to leaks that come out about PlayStation Plus on 1 April just in case of misinformation.

This is presumably why notable PS Plus leaker billbil-kun via Dealabs, who is usually reliable in their leaks, has revealed the April headliner for PlayStation Plus Essential a little early.

As revealed yesterday, billbil-kun claims that 2023’s Lords of the Fallen will be the headliner game in April’s PlayStation Plus Essential offerings, presumably joined by 2–3 more games.

Meanwhile, March’s PlayStation Plus Essential games included PGA Tour 2k25, Monster Hunter Rise, Slime Rancher 2, and The Elder Scrolls Online Collection: Gold Road.

You have until 6 April to claim these games add them to your account, at which point April's games will become active.
