PlayStation Plus users slam Sony over 'greedy' new price update

Being called greedy is one of the milder insults...

Sony is once again coming under fire regarding its “greedy” PlayStation Plus decisions.

Despite being used by thousands of gamers, PlayStation Plus is no stranger to backlash and criticism.

Oftentimes, the service comes under fire for its so-called lacklustre selection of games. However, it’s also been known to upset users over its pricing.

This latest debacle plaguing PlayStation is regarding its PS Plus pricing, though not in a traditional sense.

One of the huge benefits of PS Plus is that we get games for free, kinda.

Without getting into technicalities or semantics, the “free games” of the service are the reason why many persevere, even when they don’t like the latest collection of titles.

Yet, these free games aren’t ours.

And here's the source of all the trouble. Might as well enjoy the Days Gone Remastered trailer, at least it'll cost you nothing

Deep down we know this, but rarely are we reminded of it. However, the announcement of Days Gone Remastered has bitterly reminded users of this fact.

Much to everyone’s surprise, PlayStation announced that Days Gone has been given the good ol’ Sony remaster treatment.

What is more, those who own the game will be able to get the remastered version for a mere $10 upgrade rather than paying for the full game all over again.

Note the emphasis on “own”.

Unfortunately, those who have the game via PS Plus won’t qualify for this upgrade.

Understandably, fans aren’t happy.

“Yeah this seems pretty stupid,” posted dredizzle99 in a r/PlayStationPlus discussion about this very issue.

“There's no way I'm paying full price for this, but I'd happily pay for the upgrade at least just to check it out. Surely the majority of people that have it on PS plus are thinking the same thing, so they're basically losing all the potential sales from them.”

Redditor spudral commented, “I really don't get it. Nobody is gonna pay full price for this. Some people might buy a second hand disc and upgrade that way but it still won't make the company any extra money. I'm baffled.”

Not only are gamers baffled, but they’re also certain this is a decision spawned by “greed” above all else.

When previous remasters – such as Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered – didn’t come with such an annoying fine print, it leaves users wondering what’s suddenly changed.

Whatever the real reason, Days Gone Remastered has ended up being a surprise announcement for all the wrong reasons.
