PlayStation Plus subscribers confused by price increase

This is a bargain!

PlayStation Plus subscribers are confused by a price increase to the service despite one gamer looking set to capitalise on a fantastic bargain.

In 2022, Sony revised its PlayStation Plus subscription service increasing from one tier to three. From that moment, subscribers could choose PS Plus Essential, PS Plus Extra and PS Plus Premium.

The PlayStation Plus Essential tier is the same service before the 2022 revision. However, PS Plus Extra and Premium offer more video games to play with the latter including retro classics, cloud streaming, trials and more.

Before the revision, gamers could only stream PlayStation classics with PS Now, which was eventually phased into the PS Premium tier. Yet, those who subscribed to PS Now might be able to take advantage of a ridiculously good bargain when it comes to PS Plus Premium.

“I'm confused with PSN pricing, but I'm not complaining. Will my PS Plus Premium renew at £64.99? I was looking at the current pricing and it's close to £120 a year, asked knockout60.

So why is this Redditor seemingly getting the video game bargain of 2025, I hear you ask? Well apparently, it’s all due to a rolling subscription from PS Now, according to another Reddit user.

“If you had PS Now, this is your price forever. However, if you ever choose to cancel, Sony will ask for the full price. Unfortunately, that's what I did, simply because I did not want to forget about the payment,” explained ketchup92.

“I had PS Now and I don't have that price,” replied InevitableArt9785 to which boersc asked “Did you change anything, like add extra months? The low price only lasts as long as you don't touch it in any way.”

InevitableArt9785 then revealed that at some point, they added an extra month manually to keep the subscription going and this is the reason why they won't be getting PS Plus Premium at a bargain price.

Basically, if you had a yearly subscription to PS Now, if you didn't touch it and just kept it rolling, its yearly price would be the same for PlayStation Plus Premium. What’s more, this would only work if you had a PS Now subscription and not PS Plus alongside it.

So knockout60, whatever you do, don’t make any changes to your PlayStation Plus subscription whatsoever.
