Some PlayStation users are being offered a pretty massive discount on every PlayStation Plus tier, but nobody can figure out how you get said discount to trigger.
Pretty old news at this point, but PlayStation Plus subscriptions increased in price (again) a few months back. For many, that’s made affording even the most basic PS Plus tier a bit of a struggle.
Well, if you’ve decided not to renew your subscription at some point in the last year, you may find that a rather hefty discount is currently available through the PlayStation Store. Also, even if you haven’t, it might be there anyway.
If that sounds vague, that’s because nobody can really discern why Sony is offering this discount to some users, but not to others.

For instance, user Common_Lawyer_5370 over on the r/PlayStationPlus subreddit has been offered a 40% discount on all PS Plus tiers. The discount also lets them purchase the three-month, six-month, and twelve-month subscription options.
Now, Common_Lawyer_5370 states in the comments that they haven’t been an active subscriber for roughly two years and they’re in the Netherlands, so surely that’s what’s triggered the offer, right?
Surprisingly, no, based on the comments.
This user states that they’ve not been subscribed since May, so less than two months, and they’re being offered the same deal. This user states that they’re in the United States, and they’re being offered it too.

Look, what I’m trying to say is that you’re just going to have to check for yourself. It appears that said discount is being offered through a notification on PlayStation systems, so you’ll have to just boot up your console and see if Sony has decided to do you a solid.
Either way, 40% off is a great deal, and it’s nice that Sony is– hey, wait a tic… isn’t that how much it used to cost before they increased the price? Oh, I see how it is.
