PlayStation Plus is a bit of a must have at this point for those who use the console as their main source of video games-based enjoyment.
The monthly freebies have been pretty consistent in recent times, and October is set to be no exception. Alan Wake 2 was revealed as heading up the line-up next month, alongside the chaotic fun of Goat Simulator 3 and the genuinely underrated gem Cocoon.
Outside of that, it was also confirmed that players are set to be able to enjoy one of the best games on the console, entirely for free, as The Last of Us Part II joins the catalogue as a bonus game for PS Plus Extra and Premium subscribers.
The rollout for that game has begun today, with players in the Asia region already able to log on and get it downloaded. You'll have to sit tight for a little longer if you're in the USA and Europe, but it should come online a little later today if you keep a diligent eye on the Plus section of your console at home.

If you've somehow not played it or come across the story at all yet, The Last of Us Part II is a direct sequel to the first game, as Ellie encounters new foes across the walker-infested wastes of post-apocalyptic America.
It's worth noting that this is an offer available to both PS4 and PS5 players, though only the latter will be able to play the remastered version of the game, with the addition of its No Return game mode.
The move comes as part of The Last of Us Day celebrations, which take place on 26 September every year. If you're really into the game, Youtooz are dropping a series of TLOU plushies, if your desk needs something new to sit on it.
Outside of that, it's a really impressive month for PS Plus subscribers, with the following games on offer:
Advert
- WWE 2K25
- Persona 5 Tactica
- Green Hell
- Fate/Samurai Remnant
- Crow Country
- The Invincible
- Conscript
- Legacy of Kain: Defiance (Premium only)
Our recommendations out of that considerable pile of games would be Green Hell, a brutal survival sim set in a verdant forest that literally spends the whole game trying to kill you. Crow Country is also a criminally underrated indie gem that you should definitely try, even if it doesn't seem like your kind of game on the face of it.
