Depending on the PS Plus tier that you subscribe to, you will have hundreds of video games to choose from with more recent titles and those of yesteryear from the original PlayStation era. So it’s fair to say that there’s always a little something for everyone.

One of the most popular games on the PlayStation Plus subscription service is Bethesda’s legendary RPG The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Considering that this game was initially released back in 2011, it’s amazing that gamers are still having fun with this absolute classic and some fans will no doubt have racked up playtimes in the thousands of hours.

Since its release in 2011, Skyrim has become somewhat of a meme in relation to how many times it's been re-released on multiple platforms across generations. However, there’s a good reason why Bethesda keeps repacking and remastering this game, it’s because it's timeless and fans cannot get enough of it.

Skyrim features a massive map in the world of Tamriel, with an engaging story, fun side quests, wacky NPCs and so much more. It’s also very mod-friendly on both PC and recent consoles. Another positive of Skyrim is how gorgeous the game still looks, especially when it comes to its 2021 Special Edition. What’s more, Skyrim adapts as its four seasons change. Personally, I think Skyrim looks the most aesthetically pleasing during the winter season with the snow falling down on its highest peak dubbed ‘The Throat of the World’.

Best of all, if you subscribe to either the PlayStation Plus Extra or Premium tier, you can claim The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition at no extra cost today. Furthermore, this Special Edition version of the game not only includes all previously released DLC but also has mod support. If you explore everything that this game has to offer, your adventure can easily last hundreds of hours. When that’s done, you can start up a new campaign with a different character for a totally different playthrough. Skyrim is quite literally the gift that keeps on giving.

In related news, some players believe that they have found Skyrim’s Riverwood in Starfield, and fans agree that the latest PS Plus October 2023 title is the perfect addition.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is out now on PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch.
