PlayStation Plus users can play the best Resident Evil for free right now

PlayStation Plus subscribers can play an absolute banger of a survival horror, right now, at no additional cost.
While I wouldn’t call myself a huge fan of horror games, I still enjoy one from time to time for the rush and thrill of spooks and scares, as well as the intriguing mysteries they often include in their stories.

At the top of my horror list is always a Resident Evil title, so it’s a good thing I’ve got PlayStation Plus because you can play a bunch of them at no additional cost, including the best one in the series.
That’s right, Resident Evil 2 (the remade version) is in the PlayStation Plus Extra game library, meaning you can play it from start to finish at no additional cost.
It’s a pretty good starting point for those new to the series as well, and just because of its gorgeous visuals and smooth controls.
The game does take place just after Resident Evil 1, though the two aren’t really connected in a way that’d make you feel left out if you didn’t play the first game.
It follows a new protagonist, Leon Kennedy, on his first day as a Raccoon City police officer, amidst a horrifying outbreak that’ll see him face zombies, dapper-looking giants, and oversized alligators.
While my favourite game in the series is, and will always be, Resident Evil 4, I can’t argue that Resident Evil 2 is absolutely sublime.
So if you're subscribed to PlayStation Plus Extra or a higher tier, don’t hesitate to check this one out if you haven’t already, as even the most scaredy cats imaginable will still probably have a good time with this one.
