PlayStation Users Have a Limited Time to Grab Free Store Credit

It's very easy to forget and miss out

Earlier this year, Sony announced that it would be shuttering its PlayStation Stars service, with that process now already well underway.

You may recall, PlayStation Stars was essentially a rewards service, allowing PS4 and PS5 gamers to unlock free store credit, virtual collectibles, and even entire games.

Users would earn money on all PlayStation Store purchases, and that included PlayStation Plus membership payments for a limited-time.

You could also partake in simple campaigns which tasked you with logging on once per month, loading up a certain PlayStation Plus title, or purchasing a selected game.

Such campaigns typically unlocked extra points alongside any gained from purchases required to complete the campaign.

Once you’d saved up enough points, as I said, you could spend those on full games or on redeeming free store credit.

Unfortunately, PlayStation Stars first began to close in May of this year.

From that stage, no new members were taken on. I do, however, want to reiterate that PlayStation Stars isn’t yet completely dead.

You Can Still Claim Free Store Credit

If you head to the PlayStation App, the PlayStation Stars symbol is still visible. Click this and you’ll go through to a slimmed down version of the service’s hub.

Essentially, you can still redeem any leftover points you had for free store credit to be used on the PlayStation Store.

On my account, it offers me the options of £5 of free credit for 1,250 points or £10 of free credit of 2,500 points.

I urge you to check your own app for your territory's offers.

Annoyingly, I have 530 points so they’re now rendered completely redundant. It’s a shame you can’t redeem a smaller amount based on what you have given that none of us can extend our totals at this stage.

Still, if you do meet the threshold to claim some credit, I highly recommend you do.

I’ve seen claims flying around on social media that this is the last month to do so. That is most definitely false.

PlayStation Stars will allow users to exchange their points for free store credit until 2 November 2026, so you still have over 10 months to go.

That being said, it’s easy to forget about these things so you might as well redeem your points as soon as possible and avoid the risk of losing them forever.

With the holiday sales coming up, £5 of free store credit might just see you able to nab a full game for no cost whatsoever.
