After several years of dormancy, it’s looking as if Insomniac Games is poised to make its return.

It was back in 2023 that the studio brought us the fantastic Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.

While the rage-baiting people of social media would have you believing as of late that it’s a bad game, I can tell you that it’s brilliant and a total must-play for fans of Marvel’s famed webslinger.

While we all expected the title to be followed by DLC, it instead appears that Insomniac Games is moving straight on to its next project.

Do you recall what was announced during that memorable PlayStation Showcase in December 2021?

If you said Marvel’s Wolverine then congratulations; you win the acknowledgement that you have a great memory.

There’s very little that we actually know about Marvel’s Wolverine as its cinematic trailer wasn’t exactly extensive, nor has any official information risen since.

It is confirmed to be a third-person title that’ll share continuity with the Marvel’s Spider-Man games, although it’s due to exist as its own standalone story.

Of course, some gameplay footage did leak in December of 2023 after Insomniac was hit by a major ransomware attack.

I won’t detail the contents of said leak though out of respect for the developers.

And there’s no real need to, as an official update for Marvel’s Wolverine is reportedly right around the corner.

Tom Henderson of Insider Gaming has surfaced to report that according to his sources, a new State of Play is on the way towards the end of September.

This is due to be a regular version of the event, featuring an array of titles, unlike yesterday’s 007 First Light-centric edition.

Henderson went on to reveal that he was told that Marvel’s Wolverine is “almost certainly” due to feature as the game’s second trailer is complete and ready to be debuted.

If the game doesn’t get featured during the event, it’s believed the trailer will land by the end of the year; perhaps at The Game Awards?

It would be great to get an idea of what’s in store for PlayStation when it comes to its first-party studios as we’re pretty in the dark beyond the upcoming launch of Ghost of Yōtei.

Should a State of Play be announced, we’ll be certain to bring you live updates.
