PlayStation fans are in love with Sony’s latest first-party release, mostly because the graphical jump from the first game to the second is absolutely mind boggling.
Death Stranding 2 officially releases on PlayStation 5 tomorrow, but those of you who purchased the Deluxe Edition were lucky enough to get your hands on the game a couple of days early… and it seems that pre-ordering a game wasn’t a mistake, for once.
If you can believe it, the original Death Stranding is roughly six years old now, following the original PlayStation 4 release back in 2019.

At the time, Death Stranding looked phenomenal, but the Director’s Cut of the game made things look even prettier (somehow).
Well, it seems Hideo Kojima and Kojima Productions have outdone themselves again, because all anyone can talk about at the moment is how incredible Death Stranding 2 looks when compared to the original game.
Over in the r/DeathStranding subreddit, one user uploaded a comparison of how Norman Reedus looks in both Death Stranding and Death Stranding 2, and the commenters cannot believe how much of an improvement it is.
“Norman Reedus 720p vs Norman Reedus 4k,” commented user mrlotato.

“The Decima Engine definitely is something else,” replied user Dycoth.
Honestly, after seeing the game in action for myself, it feels like ending this current generation of hardware any time soon feels like such a mistake.
Developers seem to finally be getting a grip on exactly how to get the most out of both the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X, and Death Stranding 2 is a testament to the strides devs have made over the past couple of years.
Still, whatever magic Kojima Productions managed to work with the Decima Engine still blows my mind. Here’s hoping they have one more game in them before we progress to the PlayStation 6.
