PlayStation is silently working on its next home console, the PlayStation 6, and it’ll have a portable companion apparently.
Console developers like PlayStation and Xbox have been going hard on portable gaming recently.
PlayStation released the PlayStation Portal which was a nice idea but fundamentally flawed by it requiring a console connection, and more recently Xbox announced a new handheld developed with ASUS.

Neither have compared to the Nintendo Switch 2 in my opinion which is a great bit of kit, even more so when its game library is bolstered a bit by this year’s releases.
Back to PlayStation though, it licked its wounds from the PlayStation Portal disaster and is coming back with yet another handheld console, one that’ll apparently launch alongside the PlayStation 6.
Specs for both the PS6 and the handheld have supposedly leaked online, and it’s already being roasted by fans.
You can find the full specs in this Reddit post but the gist of it is it’ll be a very powerful handheld device, almost too powerful…

“8 teraflops portable with 2.6ghz cpu? Have fun with its 2 second battery life lmao” read one of the comments.
“Great if they get it right, but imagine the forearms of anybody playing on this. The battery will have to be huge unless we also make some advances in batteries. Even at 25-30w this will be a miracle” read another.
Others pointed out that the specs don’t suggest it’ll be able to play every PlayStation 6 game, which is a bit worrying considering it’s supposed to be launching alongside the PlayStation 6…
“I mean, it sounds more like a portable PS5 than a PS6 if it can’t play every PS6 game” said one of the comments.

It’s not sounding great at the moment, but take the leak with a grain of salt as it’s still in development at the end of the day, things change.
