You might think we’re not that far into the current generation of consoles, but time is an unstoppable force, and it’s actually been a while since the PlayStation 5 was launched.
This means that Sony is eyeing up the next console in their line-up, and while we might not quite be ready for the PlayStation 6, it’s on the horizon for developers.
Supermassive Games, creators of Until Dawn, is a key developer for PlayStation.
Fans have been speculating when we’d see the new console, with many thinking that 2027 would be the year, as Sony moved into talks with AMD about the new chip that will power the next PlayStation.

Now, it seems, that year has been confirmed by Supermassive Games, long-time partner of Sony.
News broke in the past few days that Supermassive Games has cancelled a previously unannounced game in the Blade Runner franchise called Blade Runner: Time to Live.
What’s interesting here is that the game was scheduled for release in 2027, on all current consoles, and “Gen 10 Xbox and PlayStation systems".
If you hadn’t guessed, we’re currently in generation nine, which means Supermassive Games was perhaps targeting a launch game for the PlayStation 6 console.

The parent company of the developer, Nordisk, has a very close partnership with Sony - it proudly calls itself the Nordic home of PlayStation.
If anyone is going to have information on the next console, it would be one of those two companies.
The PlayStation 6 chipset is already in research and early production stages, according to recent reports. This usually happens a couple of years before reveal, so that year of 2027 is looking like a safe bet.
News of the estimated year made it to Reddit, where fans generally felt that it’s too soon for a new console, with one stating, “We've barely started getting games that aren't available on last gen, WTF is the point.”
