I don’t know about you, but I’m personally still very, very satisfied with my PlayStation 5 console.
Ghost of Yōtei perfectly exemplifies that.
I recently sat down to start the game and within a few hours, I’d been left awestruck on multiple occasions.
The graphical fidelity, the DualSense features … The PlayStation 5 is still capable of bringing us experiences that feel truly new-gen.

It’s wild then to think that the launch of the PlayStation 6 is supposedly around the corner.
While the console hasn’t officially been announced, it’s rumoured that it may launch in the next couple of years.
After all, Sony consoles typically reign for around seven years or so; the PlayStation 5 landed five years ago in 2020.
You do have to wonder just how noticeable the PlayStation 6’s improvements could possibly be.

It feels like we’re reaching the peaks of what technology is capable of, but apparently not.
According to one leak, the PS6 will boast triple the PS5’s performance for around the same price.
This is according to YouTube’s Moore’s Law is Dead.
As reported by Engadget, the leaker claims that the PS6 will have triple the rasterisation, 3D rendering, and performance of the base PS5, or around double what the PS5 Pro currently offers.

He also said the console could launch with a $499 price tag which somewhat qualms fears that the PS6 could be priced closer to four figures; the PS5 Pro isn’t far off, as we’re all well aware.
I say “somewhat” qualms, as Moore’s Law is Dead isn’t particularly forthcoming with his sources.
He’s certainly had correct intel on several occasions, but it can be difficult to weed out what’s true from what’s false during these early days.
I will say that I’m sure PlayStation and Sony are aware that they can only charge so much for the console.

Venture too high and they’ll know they’re pricing many out.
The recent Game Pass controversy has proven that fans will vote with their wallets and boycott should the need arise.
In case you missed that, it was revealed that Game Pass is being renamed as ultimate, premium, and essential.
Ultimate did already exist, but it'll now cost 50% more, setting users back $29.99 a month instead of $19.99.

For now though, this is a positive sign for what’s to come with the PS6.
I’d recommend taking it all with a pinch of salt though until an official announcement is made.
