The PlayStation 6 is Sony’s next home console and several leaks have given us an idea as to what the company is planning.
Gaming hardware is getting more and more advanced but with faster load times and prettier graphics comes new challenges for getting consoles in people’s homes, such as a rapidly increasing price for instance.
PlayStation already charges an absurd amount for the PlayStation 5 Pro, and while leaks reckon the PlayStation 6 will cost around the same price, that's not taking into account any Pro versions of that console.
More and more information on the PS6 is beginning to surface, including a release date that’s apparently “locked in” for 2027, which isn’t that far away.

This development comes from Kepler2 who replied to a comment on NeoGAF asking if 2027 was on the table or not.
Kepler2 replied that it’s “not just on the table, it's the plan unless any unexpected delays happen.” Emphasis on “unexpected delays” there as they’re always a possibility nowadays.
Not much else was said, but previous leaks reckon there’ll be more than just one console when the PlayStation 6 launches.
Apparently there’ll be two variations, one with a disc-drive and one without. For those that purchase the all-digital PlayStation 6 you’ll be able to buy a disc-drive separately if you change your mind.

It’s also said that a portable PlayStation console will be revealed as well. This apparently is not a revision of the PlayStation Portal which requires a console and internet connection to work. It can act independently and be docked for TV use like the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.
Obviously take all of this with a grain of salt as PlayStation hasn’t officially confirmed anything yet, but what we’ve heard so far doesn’t seem unlikely by any means.
So far PlayStation users have been pretty negative about the next generation of consoles, with many arguing the current generation has hardly yielded anything of value. The majority of PlayStation 5 games have been re-releases or remasters of PlayStation 4 games. Due to this fans are expecting the PlayStation 6 library of games to be re-releases and remasters of PlayStation 5 games.
Whatever the case there’s only one thing we know for certain, it’s going to cost us an arm and a leg.
