PlayStation 5 system update adding surprise feature we've been waiting for

PlayStation 5 users can expect yet another system update

It's only been a few weeks since the last PlayStation 5 system update, but Sony has already confirmed the next major new feature coming to the hardware soon.

PlayStation announced the March system update earlier this month, which includes a number of cool new changes and tweaks to the PlayStation 5. Not long after that, a completely overhauled UI, complete with custom themes, leaked online. But that's not all that's coming.

Changes introduced in the most recent system update include:

  • Enhanced DualSense speaker audio
  • Improved DualSense mic noise cancellation
  • Adjust the brightness of your PS5 power indicator
  • Share Screen interaction using pointers and emojis

If that's not enough for you though, Sony has now confirmed it's completely overhauling and expanding an older feature you've probably forgotten about.

Over on the PlayStation Blog, Sony announced Community Game Help. This is an evolution of the oft-forgotten Game Help feature that will, in short, rely on user-generated content to help players overcome tricky puzzles, bosses, or challenges.

"When the enhanced Game Help experience featuring content from the community launches, Game Help will be available to all PS5 players, with or without a PlayStation Plus subscription," Sony confirms.

"In supported games, PS5 players will be able to contribute their gameplay, view hints from fellow gamers, or access Game Help hints created by developers. Game developers can also continue to create their own hint videos, as seen in popular titles available today like The Last of Us Part II Remastered and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2."

Community Game Help can be accessed by hitting PS button to open the Control Center before heading to the Hints section, just as you would if you were after developer-generated hints.

Hints and tips shared by gamers will be flagged as such, and you'll be able to rate how useful these guides are so Sony can continue to refine the quality of the content. It's unclear what, if anything, you'll get for uploading your own guides. Sony says we can get expect more details on Community Game Help as we get closer to its launch, but I'd wager this will be a case of "do it out of the goodness of your heart". Watch this space.
