Rise of the Ronin gets free DLC

We all love freebies, especially when it comes to the video games that we love, right? If that sounds like your cup of tea then check out this free DLC for a recent PlayStation 5 exclusive.

Developed by Team Ninja - the studio behind the likes of the Ninja Gaiden, Dead or Alive and Nioh series - released Rise of the Ronin in March this year exclusively for Sony’s PlayStation 5 and was met with high praise across the board with Metacritic scores of 76 from reviewers and 8.8 from users.

In our review of Rise of the Ronin, we said: “Rise of the Ronin has some incredibly enjoyable peaks but so too does it feature some annoying pitfalls - making for an experience that may be jarring in comparison to other perfectly polished PlayStation exclusives. It’s as educational as it is entertaining with both a story and combat system that may prove slow to gel with.”

Courtesy of the free update, the PlayStation 5 exclusive will not only receive outfits inspired by Ninja Gaiden, but it’s also getting five new quests and more. As detailed on the PlayStation Blog, the new content via the free update includes:

  • Five new Ally Missions
  • When replaying a world in Midnight, you can now choose to have Public Order deteriorate again.
  • Level sync selection feature added to missions from Testament of the Soul.
  • Two new Set Bonuses added to the Midnight difficulty.
  • Addition of dojo training partners.
  • Add Martial Skill type bonus and raise the limit of the target score.

What’s more, various quality-of-life improvements will be made with the free update. The update is available now and should automatically begin its download when you fire up Rise of the Ronin (unless the update downloads while the PS5 is in sleep mode).

Rise of the Ronin is out now on PlayStation 5.
