PlayStation gamers are rallying behind a leaked demo for one of the PlayStation 2’s best platformers, which more than deserves a reimagining.
The PlayStation 2 is a video game console near and dear to a lot of gamer’s hearts largely due to its one-of-a-kind title library.
It walked a fine line between quantity and quality, so it’s a shame modern consoles like the PlayStation 5 are still missing so many of its exclusives, either as standalone releases or PlayStation Plus titles.
Many fans have been begging Sony to remaster or remake some of its beloved titles, one of which being Jak And Daxter which is currently trending after some remastered demo footage surfaced online.

The video shows a side-by-side comparison of one of the game’s original cutscenes, alongside an updated version with HD visuals.
It was animated by Travis Howe, who revealed that years ago a Jak And Daxter remaster pitch was put together in the hopes of resparking interest in the series. This was apparently not orchestrated by Sony, but by fans who simply wanted to see this legendary platformer make a comeback.
Since then the years have flown by and we still haven’t gotten a remaster, so if the pitch actually went ahead it clearly wasn’t successful.
However now that it’s doing the rounds online fans believe the chances of getting a remaster approved are better than ever.
Some fans are drawing comparisons to the first Deadpool film, which only came to be after test footage was “leaked” online.
The footage was instantly picked up by fans, who begged 20th Century Fox to greenlight a full live-action film. As we all know this worked, leading to the merc-with-a-mouth joining the likes of The Avengers when Fox was acquired by Disney years later.
Perhaps this potential Jak And Daxter remaster will be a similar story, but as always gamers shouldn’t get their hopes up. Bloodborne fans have been fighting for a remaster for years now, and look where that’s gotten them…
It doesn’t help that the studio behind Jak And Daxter, Naughty Dog, seemingly have no interest in revisiting its old IPs.
The next game on Naught Dog’s release schedule is Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, and following that The Last of Us will likely get a third game to make the story a trilogy.
Never say never though, perhaps all the buzz around this leaked demo footage will finally spur Sony on to give the fans what they want.
