PlayStation 2 classic gets surprise PS5 remaster out of nowhere

And by "out of nowhere" I mean "it's available to download right now"

A remaster of a classic, if somewhat overlooked, PlayStation 2 game from the minds behind the Disgaea franchise just dropped on the PlayStation Store.

As announced by Nippon Ichi Software at the end of September, Phantom Brave: The Hermuda Triangle Remastered would be hitting the PlayStation Store on the 7th of November.

Bit weird that everyone is surprised this came out, they literally had an announcement trailer… oh it has like 6,000 views, nevermind.

Now, in case any of you played the original 2004 release of Phantom Blade and are confused as to what exactly “The Hermuda Triangle Remastered” means, this version of the game is actually a remaster of a port.

So, back in 2010, Nippon Ichi Software ported the game to the PlayStation Portable under the title Phantom Brave: The Hermuda Triangle.

This version of the game came packaged with some new content, although it sounds like some of the content from the Wii remake of the game that came out in 2009 wasn’t included.

Phantom Brave: The Hermuda Triangle Remastered is seemingly a remaster of the PSP version, not the Wii remake. Bit of an oddly confusing title to untangle, but I’m sure fans of the game understand it.

The new PlayStation port also comes with some new content, on top of the new content that was already present in the PSP version of Phantom Brave: The Hermuda Triangle… but not the new content that was featured in the Wii remake, Phantom Brave: We Meet Again.

You know what? Just go and look at the press release on the official website.

Oh, and, if you’re annoyed that you already bought a port of Phantom Brave on PC and are missing out on some of the extra features, then don’t stress. NIS just released an update for the PC version of the game that includes 120 FPS support, “Improved 3D model / landscape textures” and “Improved anti-aliasing, anisotropic filtering, and rendering quality”.
