Marvel's Wolverine gameplay teaser quietly dropped by PlayStation

Marvel's Wolverine gameplay teaser quietly dropped by PlayStation

A subtle but promising development

PlayStation has revealed more details about its Wolverine game, yet few of us are aware of this because it did so on the down-low.

Marvel fans’ love for Wolverine isn’t new – even before Deadpool & Wolverine hit cinemas, the gruff but loveable mutant was a fan favourite.

As a result, a chance to play as him would be at the top of many gamers’ wishlist.

Until we get a Wolverine game, let's watch that Deadpool & Wolverine trailer

It would seem that those wishes are soon to become reality, after Mike Fitzgerald, Insomniac’s core technology director, spoke of “future games like Marvel’s Wolverine”.

This isn’t the first time the game has been teased; plans to make a Wolverine game were announced in 2021.

Since then, however, hardly any new information has come out about the project.

We’d love to tell you that we now have more details to share beyond the confirmation that the game exists, but sadly that’s not the case.

Still, the fact that such a game was mentioned in a PlayStation blog post shows that these projects are real even though we can’t see them for ourselves.

The post was part of a collective developers’ discussion about the future of gaming via the PS5 Pro.

Not only did Fitzgerald subtly tease a Wolverine game, but they also spoke about “enhancing” several of Insomniac’s previously released titles as well.

“Players of Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will find a new default Performance Pro mode,” they explained.

“These are incredible no-compromises experiences we know fans will love, and we’re excited to spend even more time finding new ways we can leverage PS5 Pro on both these existing titles and future games like Marvel’s Wolverine.”

It’s another case of being fed breadcrumbs to keep us hungry for more. While it’s not a strategy many fans will appreciate, it definitely does the job of keeping us invested.
