Did you spot the popular villain in the recent Marvel's Spider-Man 2 trailer?

The release of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is nearly upon us and in less than a month, we’ll be web-slinging through a newer version of New York City until our hearts are content.

This week, we were treated to a new State of Play event and in it, we learned more about the new map that is almost twice the size as the one that featured in 2018’s Marvel’s Spider-Man on PS4. What’s more, we also learned that the sequel will have 65 suits at launch. Yikes!

Check out the latest Marvel's Spider-Man 2 trailer below!

During the aforementioned State of Play event, we got to see new gameplay detailing the larger New York City map. In the video, it explained some of the activities that we could partake in as well as how some events could be triggered.

During a brief flythrough of the map, various icons are scattered revealing new activities for the two Spider-Man’s, Peter Parker and Miles Morales. However, one particular icon has caught the attention of eagle-eyed viewers and it could involve the devious Mysterio. I too caught a glimpse of the icon and a human character that instantly had my spider senses tingling.

It seems that I was far from the only one that may have caught a glimpse of Mysterio, because so too have plenty of other fans on social media. Sure, the developers at Insomniac Games haven't confirmed other main villains outside of Kraven the Hunter and Venom just yet, but the studio has teased others will appear and to be fair, this mystery man does look like it could be Mysterio.

In related news, additional accessibility options in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 are a welcomed inclusion for fans, and the rating for the sequel has been revealed.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has a release date of 20 October 2023 and it will launch exclusively for the PlayStation 5.
