Marvel’s Spider-Man gamers are losing it over Venom gameplay, which could provide a big hint of what’s in store for the future.

In recent months, rumours have been circulating on the internet that Insomniac Games, the developer of the Marvel’s Spider-Man series on PlayStation, is working on a standalone Venom game.

This rumoured Venom game is in addition to Marvel’s Wolverine, which was officially announced for PlayStation 5 in 2021, alongside the now-released Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.

In our review of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, we said: “This is an amazing fantasy come to life and realised like never before. Insomniac Games has crafted yet another heartfelt Spider-Man story bursting with twists, turns, and show-stopping spectacle.”

Speaking of Marvel’s Wolverine, despite being announced over four years ago and having gameplay leaked from an early build of the game, its release date has still not been announced.

That being said, other rumours have suggested that Marvel’s Wolverine release date might arrive sooner rather than later.

Now, back to the rumoured Marvel’s Venom. At the time of writing, Insomniac Games hasn't announced the game, but as history often dictates, there’s no smoke without fire. So, hopefully, there is truth behind those rumours.

Venom is one of the main villains of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and it’s no secret that you play as the sinister symbiote in a small but memorable section of the game.

If Marvel’s Venom does come to fruition, my spidey senses are tingling that it might be a shorter, expansion-esque release, similar to 2020’s Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, but I could be very wrong.

With that in mind, gamers have been reacting to some of the Venom gameplay from Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and if that’s anything to go by, the villain's standalone game could be an absolute blast.

“The Venom game is gonna be so PEAK!!!” declared JaeGamez, sharing a peachy clip of Venom causing total carnage in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.

“One of the best parts of this game. Super fun,” said Nicwil90.

“I'm waiting for this game more than the new Spider-Man game! Way more!” declared SamaelGrey.

“I just hope the protagonist is Eddie Brock,” replied madcap412, with JaeGamez adding, “Rumour has it, he is, with the villain being Cleetus Cassidy.”

Marvel’s Spider-Man is out now on PC and PlayStation, while Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is currently a PlayStation 5 exclusive.

We’ll keep you posted if we hear of any updates regarding Marvel’s Wolverine and Marvel’s Venom.
