The PlayStation Summer Sale is here, and it’s packed full of bargains on first-party delights, AAA big hitters, indie darlings, retro classics, and an abundance of DLCs.
In a nutshell, there’s at least one fantastic bargain for someone, and with a bit of luck, the bargain that is the centre of attention in this article might be for you. That game is the once-troubled Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition.
Thanks to the PlayStation Summer Sale, you can pick up Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition for just £18.14/$19.79, reduced from £54.99/$59.99. It gives you a hefty saving of 67% or, in actual money terms, £36.85/$40.20. This also works out to be just £6/$6.59 per game.
This collection includes remasters of GTA III (2001), GTA: Vice City (2002) and GTA: San Andreas (2004), each with a claim to being the best video game of all time, perhaps more so the latter two.

As a reference to how great these games are considered to be, GTA III has a 97 Metacritic score, GTA: Vice City has a 95, and GTA: San Andreas also has a 95.

Yes, this collection was an absolute mess when it launched in November 2021. In fact, it’s fair to say it had the roughest launch in the history of Rockstar Games.
Considering that GTA III, GTA: Vice City and GTA: San Andreas are three of the best games of all time, each entry in the collection suffered from frequent crashes, animation and gameplay glitches, severe texture pop-in, poor framerates, and even faced accusations of using AI-generated art. People absolutely expected better of Rockstar Games across the board, and rightly so.
Thankfully, a series of updates means GTA: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition has improved massively since its woeful launch.
Hundreds of bugs have been fixed, the performance is far more stable, and the visuals have vastly improved.
So, if you were put off by its launch, now is the perfect time to pick up this remastered collection. Plus, with GTA VI on the horizon, it’s a fun way to revisit Vice City set in the 80s, before we experience its modern-day version. I’m sure there’ll be plenty of Easter eggs in GTA VI referring to the game released in 2002.
Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition is also available on PC, Xbox and Nintendo Switch. As for GTA VI, that will be released on November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
