9 best bargains in the PlayStation Summer Sale

The latest PlayStation Store sale has arrived, and it brings tons of fantastic bargains that you can claim this summer. We’ve picked out some of the best from the lot.

Over the last week, PlayStation Plus subscribers have had early access to the PS Store’s Summer Sale, and while that early access has come to an end, later today, it’s going to be available for everyone, with or without a PS Plus subscription.

Of course, we can’t ignore the proverbial elephant in the room after Sony controversially announced that it is ditching physical PlayStation games as of January 2028, but that disappointing news aside, we still can’t ignore buying some fantastic games at tidy discounts.

Here are the best bargains in the PlayStation Summer Sale!

Assassin's Creed Shadows, Ubisoft

Assassin’s Creed Shadows - Save 55% - £31.49/$31.49 from £69.99/$69.99

While its story takes a while to get going, you’ll soon forget how much time you’ve been exploring the gorgeous map with changing four seasons set in feudal Japan, beginning in 1579 during the Azuchi–Momoyama period. You get to play as two protagonists, the ninja Naoe and the samurai Yasuke.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows features a gripping story that has you questioning the difference between justice and revenge.“This is an epic, sweeping adventure bolstered by jaw-dropping visuals and a masterful blend of stealth, action, and exploration. From the developers of A Way Out and It Takes Two, this latest co-op adventure from Hazelight Studios is a joyful co-op adventure for all ages, whether you play it online with a friend or for some old-school couch co-op.

Without giving too much away, you play as two writers, Mio and Zoe, who get trapped inside their own stories and sent on an unforgettable adventure across multiple universes.

“Split Fiction’s finale challenges our perception of what this generation of consoles is capable of. It attempted something that’s not been done before, and executed it perfectly,” said GAMINGbible’s Kate in our duel review of Split Fiction with Sam.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Save 80% - £4.99/$7.99 from £24.99/$39.99

This is simply one of the best fantasy RPGs of all time, as reflected by its 92 Metacritic score. As Geralt of Rivia, you’ll take on memorable and sometimes heartbreaking quests. Interact with some delightful and disgusting NPCs, explore the enchanting world of the Continent, and face deadly monsters.

In December 2022, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was made to be an even better experience with a free new-gen update boosting the framerate and resolution. Oh, and 11 years after its original launch in 2015, CD Projekt RED’s RPG is getting an all-new expansion.

Mortal Kombat: Elder God Bundle - Save 60% - £27.99/$31.99 from £69.99/$79.99

This godly bundle of gruesome joy includes some of the best (and most recent) entries in NetherRealm Studios' iconic Mortal Kombat series. Fun and deep combat mechanics, the most violent graphics and animations, as well as fantastic story campaigns, this bundle has it all. This bundle works out to be £9.33/$10.66 per game.

This bundle includes Mortal Kombat XL, Mortal Kombat 11: Ultimate and Mortal Kombat 1: Definitive Edition, all bundled with previously released DLC. “Mortal Kombat 1 joining the ranks as one of the best fighting games in years, it’s certainly a great time for fans of the genre,” I said in my review of Mortal Kombat 1.

Star Wars Jedi Cross-Gen Bundle - Save 80% - £15.99/$15.99 from £79.99/$79.99

Yet another fantastic bundle, this time it includes the awesome Star Wars games from 2019 and 2023, respectively. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, offering the perfect opportunity to get ready for the announced third entry in the series. This bundle includes the PS5 and PS4 versions of the games. This bundle works out to be 7.99 per game.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Square Enix

Get ready for the third entry in this beloved trilogy of remakes from the legendary Final Fantasy series, after Final Fantasy VII Revelation was announced in June this year. This bundle not only includes both Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, but also a story expansion for the first game, as well as plenty of bonus DLC for both. This bundle works out to be £18.95/$19.99 per game.

“As I rolled the credits, I realised this was exactly the game I’ve wanted to play since I was 17 years old, it’s playing one of my favourite games all over again, experiencing everything fresh - and loving it just as much as I did over two decades ago,” said GAMINGbible alumni, Dan, in his review of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.

Mass Effect Legendary Edition - Save 90% - £5.99/$5.99 from £59.99/$59.99

This collection includes three of the best sci-fi RPGs of all time: the Mass Effect trilogy. Each game has improved gameplay, visuals, and all previously released DLC. Granted, it doesn't include Mass Effect 3’s wave-based multiplayer, but what is essentially 1.99 per game, we can overlook that discrepancy. Depending on your playstyle, you can easily get 70 to 150 hours of gameplay from this legendary trilogy, if not more.

Batman: Arkham Collection - Save 90% - £4.99/$5.99 from £49.99/$59.99

Here’s yet another collection of remasters, which many consider to be the best comic-book-inspired video games of all time: the Batman Arkham trilogy. When Batman: Arkham Asylum was released in 2009, it instantly raised the bar. This collection includes remasters of the aforementioned Batman: Arkham Asylum, as well as Batman: Arkham City and Batman: Arkham Knight, all with previously released DLC. This collection works out to be just £1.66/$1.99 per game. Bargain!

Dead Space (2023) - Save 85% - £10.49/$10.49 from £69.99/$69.99

Released in the same year as the fantastic Resident Evil 4 remake, it might be fair to say that the Dead Space remake may have been overshadowed somewhat, which is a shame. Befittingly, the original Dead Space is inspired by the original Resident Evil 4 (as well as the movie, Event Horizon).

Along with the likes of Alien: Isolation, Dead Space is one of the scariest video games sci-fi horrors of all-time, built from the ground up with not only improved visuals and gameplay, but new areas, story beats, and its protagonist, Isaac Clarke, has a voice to help develop his story, something that was not present in the 2008 original. If you love horror video games, you owe it to yourself to check out the Dead Space remake.

“With this Dead Space, the developer welcomes not only faithful players but fresh-faced recruits and stunningly enough, neither of them knows what they’re in for. They will love the ride, though. Scream if you want to go faster, and all that,” said GAMINGbible alumni, Imogen, in her review.
