Thousands of Grand Theft Auto VI players are going to be deprived of the best version of the game, all thanks to PlayStation.
Rockstar Games will release GTA VI later this year on 19 November after over a decade of waiting, a couple of trailers and several delays.
Gamers all over the world are already planning the day off in anticipation of its release date, but many will unfortunately be deprived of the game at its best thanks to PlayStation’s latest controversial decision.
Last week PlayStation announced that it’ll be raising the price of the PlayStation 5, all-digital PlayStation 5, PlayStation 5 Pro and PlayStation Portal.

The PlayStation 5 Pro price-hike hit especially hard as the console’s price from 2 April onwards will be nearing $1,000, a worrying update for the PlayStation 6 as well.
This all has massive implications for GTA VI, one of which makes PlayStation’s controversial decision feel all the more sneaky.
GTA VI won’t be a PlayStation 5 exclusive but reports suggest it will be part of an exclusive bundle with one of Sony’s consoles.
If such a bundle exists it’ll no doubt be a PlayStation 5 Pro, as GTA VI is going to be Rockstar’s first game to take full advantage of new-gen hardware.

Red Dead Redemption 2 was visually and mechanically impressive but was made with the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in mind, whereas GTA VI is being made for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
Out of all of the consoles currently available the PlayStation 5 Pro is the most powerful, meaning it'll be the system to play on if you want to experience GTA VI at its very best.
It’s for that reason that a PlayStation 5 Pro bundled with GTA VI would make the most sense from a business perspective, and with the impending price-hike it’ll obviously cost an arm and a leg regardless. That’s before you consider the possibility of GTA VI costing more than your average AAA game, as many rumours suggest.
All of this is great news for PlayStation, but bad news for consumers who merely want to play this highly-anticipated game on the best hardware available, at least before the PC port comes along.
It’s great news for PlayStation, but bad news for consumers, especially those that were planning to upgrade to one of the PlayStation 5 consoles in order to play GTA VI.
