God Of War 6 leak has fans losing their minds, and we get it

Does this mean the next God of War game will be a prequel?

God of War fans are extremely excited about the latest God of War 6 leak, mostly because the setting sounds absolutely perfect.

As revealed in a post from leaker Daniel Richtman (per The Game Post's Zuhaad Ali), the next God of War title will supposedly be set in Egypt.

As Richtman states in his leak, Sony is supposedly hiring several Middle Eastern actors for a yet-to-be confirmed AAA project. Although details on the project are sparse, Richtman notes that the title is “likely to be the next God of War that explores Egyptian mythology.”

The leak didn’t state whether or not developer Santa Monica Studio will be returning for the project, or whether or not it will be a current-gen PlayStation 5 game.

Over in a post detailing the leak on the r/gaming subreddit, fans are keen about the reported setting for the game.

“This is speculation at this point, but if it's true this would basically be my wet dream”, commented user rickjamesbich.

“As an egyptian mythology nerd, Stargate holds a special place in my heart, and taking my boy Kratos through the egyptian pantheon like Anubis, Ra, Setesh, Apophis and Horus would be a dream come true.”

“This would be unbelievably good if it’s around the same level of quality as GoW 2018/Ragnarok. Holy f**k lol”, replied user Jabarles.

“He canonically has been to Egypt, so it makes sense”, commented user darkpyro2.

“There's a comic series where he ends up in Egypt for a bit before he was in "ambiguous norse wildlands". I wonder if this'll be a prequel to the norse games.”

So, the real question is, how likely is it that this leak is true?

Well, Daniel Richtman’s batting average on leaks isn’t great these days, so I’d suggest you don’t take it entirely at face value.

However, visiting Egypt is something that has been teased several times in the franchise now, so it’s not completely out of the question.
