Sony and Sucker Punch Productions have announce the upcoming release of a free Ghost of Yōtei update which would bring with it a bunch of new content as well as a New Game Plus mode.
Released just over a month ago, Ghost of Yōtei became an instant hit as the highly anticipated sequel to 2020’s Ghost of Tsushima. Set in 17th century Japan, Ghost of Yōtei follows brand-new protagonist Atsu, a mercenary seeking vengeance against the Yōtei Six who slaughtered her family 16-years prior.
Met with generally positive reviews, Ghost of Yōtei soon saw itself sell over 3.3 million copies within just one month and has since been nominated for multiple awards at this year’s The Game Awards.
Now just a few weeks on and Sony and Sucker Punch Productions have announced a free new update arriving to Ghost of Yōtei for PlayStation 5 users.

Launching on 24 November, the update will introduce a New Game Plus mode alongside harder difficulty options, new armour sets and weapon dyes, the ability to replay your favourite missions, and new accessibility options.
Although the New Game Plus mode is perhaps the most exciting addition, allowing players to replay the game without having to sacrifice their hard-earned weapons and perks, it seems as though many fans are over the moon about a slightly smaller inclusion.

Yep, we're on about dyes.
In a conversation over on r/playstation, Redditors discussed the upcoming update and it seems as though talk soon turned to the addition of the new armour and weapon dyes.
The fans' pleas have been answered
“I hope there will be a lot more black armour dyes,” one user shared.
“I’ve been a little disappointed with the lack of dyes in this game,” another added.
“I thought there would be every dye for every armor.”
It would seem as though the plea for more dyes has been answered, allowing players to customise Atsu’s weapons and armours in their favourite colour palette.
If you are anything like me, then you will enjoy dyeing everything black to look like a true ninja but hey, at least we have the options now.
After all, who does not love customising their characters, especially if they are pre-made protagonists?
Our very own Richard Lee Breslin loved Ghost of Yōtei when he reviewed it back in October, calling it “a powerful revenge-driven tale”.
“Ghost of Yōtei is pure cinematic brilliance, and Sucker Punch Productions deserves to be commended once more for knocking it out of the park and, in some ways, topping its predecessor,” he wrote.
“I’m somewhat torn between this and Death Stranding 2: On The Beach, but without question, Ghost of Yōtei is one of the absolute best games of 2025.”
