It may have been just over a month since Ghost of Yōtei was first released but Sucker Punch has already announced a huge upcoming update which will be free to download for players.

Released last month as the highly anticipated sequel to 2020’s Ghost of Tsushima, Ghost of Yōtei became an instant hit and has since cemented itself multiple nominations at The Game Awards 2025.

Our very own Richard Lee Breslin called Ghost of Yōtei “a powerful revenge-driven tale” in his review.

“Ghost of Yōtei is pure cinematic brilliance, and Sucker Punch Productions deserves to be commended once more for knocking it out of the park and, in some ways, topping its predecessor,” his review reads.

“I’m somewhat torn between this and Death Stranding 2: On The Beach, but without question, Ghost of Yōtei is one of the absolute best games of 2025.”

Now just over a month on from launch and Sucker Punch and Sony have revealed a brand-new update arriving to Ghost of Yōtei next week.

The free update arrives alongside a fan-requested feature: New Game+ and so players will be able to dive back into the action without having to sacrifice their hard-earned weapons and perks.

“On November 24, a free patch for all Ghost of Yōtei players will introduce New Game Plus, allowing you to replay Atsu’s quest for vengeance from the beginning with everything you earned throughout the campaign,” the official PlayStation blog post reads.

“Yes, that means it’s time to bring a gun to a sword fight, with all of the armors, abilities, and weapons from your first playthrough available from the start of the game.

But that's not all...

Not only that but the free Ghost of Yōtei update will also feature harder difficulties for those who like a challenge as well as new armour sets and dyes for the fashionistas out there.

The harder difficulties and armour sets and dyes will be accessible through New Game Plus but there are also new additions to Ghost of Yōtei’s base game.

This includes the ability to replay missions post-game, new photo mode features and last but not least, new accessibility options.

The update arrives on 24 November and will be free for all PlayStation 5 users who already own Ghost of Yōtei.

The full list of changes and additions can be found on the official PlayStation blog but it is safe to say that this is already a major update for such a new game.

‘Whether you revisit Atsu’s story in New Game Plus or jump in for the first time this holiday season, we hope you enjoy your time in Ezo, and we can’t wait to introduce you to Ghost of Yōtei Legends in 2026!

Thank you for playing!”

So there you have it.
