It’s practically impossible to miss the fact that Astro Bot has well and truly taken the world by storm.

And thank goodness it has, taking the heat away from PlayStation for the colossal failure that was Concord.

Astro Bot is both an incredible platformer and a beautiful love letter to PlayStation’s vast history, making it an absolute must-play.

It’s already the highest-rated game of the year on Metacritic, boasting a score of 94. Yes, Shadow of the Erdtree sits at 95 but is technically an expansion.

We awarded Astro Bot a perfect 10 out of 10, calling it “an all-time great of stratospheric proportions”.

I’m imagining you’ve likely been marathoning the game all weekend, perhaps having already completed it.

For me, just one bot stands between me and that coveted platinum. I hope I’m not the only one shaking at the hellscape that is ‘Splashing Sprint’.

With the end being nigh, I can already feel myself yearning for more.

Thankfully, Team Asobi have confirmed that Astro Bot will receive free DLC - and the best part of all is that it’s set to launch in the remainder of 2024.

Take a look at Astro Bot in action below.

The DLC is set to be pretty extensive.

Naturally, it’ll add additional VIP bots for players to find - with eagle-eyed fans spotting the likely game franchises in the game’s end credits.

Those include - look away now if you don’t want spoilers - Assassin’s Creed, Beyond Good & Evil, Croc, Rise of the Ronin, and Stellar Blade.

Speedrun challenges are also set to be added, given that these short time trial-style levels proved to be so popular in Astro’s Playroom.

Speaking to Quest Daily, game director Nicolas Doucet also added that they’d like to “insert something a bit toy-feeling, something that could be really like for any player. But we’re not too sure about that one,” whatever that means.

I don’t know about you but ‘Downsize Surprise’ was one of my favourite levels. I’d love to see that shrinking mechanic make another appearance.

Here’s to hoping the DLC content is revealed in full pretty soon.
