Confirmed within the announcement, Sony details how the hardware team collaborated with Hideo Kojima on the new design, which features elements from the game’s UI and HUD, along with unique artwork.

Combining black with the signature bright orange from the game, the controller features the Drawbridge logo and motto on the touch pad.

The grips also feature orange detailing, while the back of the PlayStation 5 Dual Sense features the logo of Death Stranding 2: On the Beach in glossy black lettering.

The new controller launches alongside the game on 26 June, when players can pick up where the first game ended and aid Sam in saving humanity from the brink of extinction.

If you’re eager to get your hands on this new hardware, the recommended retail price will be $84.99 / €84.99 / £74.99 / ¥12,480.

Pre-orders will open on 22 May via the PlayStation Store.

This highly anticipated sequel launches officially on 26 June, however, if you order the Deluxe edition or the Collector’s edition of the game, you’ll be able to play from 24 June.

In the lead up to release, Kojima-san has commented that he has an idea for a third game in the series, but he doesn’t plan on making it himself, rather, he would hand off creation to another team.

Fans will be eager to jump back into the fractured world of Death Stranding, piecing together the next instalment of the story as we deliver packages in new and interesting ways.
