That’s the story with Skyblivion, a complete remake of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, using The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim to make it happen.

Dedicated fans have essentially converted the legacy title into Skyrim form, retaining Oblivion’s legendary landscapes and quests, but reinvigorating it with all the bells and whistles featured in Skyrim’s improved Elder Scrolls gameplay.

While the fan-made title isn’t due a release until an undisclosed date in 2025, its creators have blessed us with a 20-minute video showcasing the remake in action. It takes viewers through the remade quest “Mazoga The Orc” in which the player is tasked with finding out why Mazoga refuses to leave Leyawiin Castle County Hall.

It’s just one of many quests fans can’t wait to see remade, like “Sheogarath”, “Through A Nightmare, Darkly” and “Whodunnit?”

It’s mods like this one that keep fans playing Bethesda’s previous titles, because god knows it takes them forever to make a sequel to them. The next game set to release by the developer is Starfield, which seemingly takes a lot of inspiration from Oblivion, after that, The Elder Scrolls VI is set to enter development.

Despite being announced years ago, The Elder Scrolls VI is still a while away from releasing. When it does grace our consoles and PCs though, it’s promised to be the “ultimate fantasy world simulator” and will apparently be enough for decades of content.

In the meantime, the modding community is hard at work keeping previous titles relevant, with all new content and spectacular remakes like Skyblivion.
