There is something inherently relaxing about fishing.
Well, at least in video games where you don’t have to deal with the actual real life fish flopping around in your hands.
So it is no surprise that fishing mechanics are a staple of many simulation titles.
Since its launch, Stardew Valley has encouraged players to fish in order to make money, find treasure and hang out with friends.

However, if you have played Stardew Valley since its launch back in 2016, you may have seen everything that the deep blue has to offer, especially if you have indulged in more than one playthrough.
That is why creator RouxIzCat has come to the rescue with their mod Monster Fish.
Just uploaded to Nexus Mods, Monster Fish is a free download for Stardew Valley on PC which aims to add ten new fish “with a monstrous and rare aesthetic" to the game.
Inspired by fish featured in some other of our favourite games, players can also explore ten exclusive items for fish ponds including crops, valuable items, and special food.
“Although there isn’t much content for now, depending on how well the mod is received I plan to keep updating it with more fish and maybe even add a couple of fishing-exclusive maps, so please endorse the mod,” the modder explains.

It will be interesting to see if we can guess which other games some of these fish may have been inspired by but on top of this, the official page also details the random drops that players will find in ponds around the map.
This will include everything from gold ore to deluxe bait, mixed flower seeds to pink cake.
You are encouraged to fish and explore and find out more of what Stardew Valley has to offer and better yet, it is all completely free to enjoy.
