When it comes to The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, perhaps no game is supported by its ever-vibrant modding community quite like the fantasy RPG from Bethesda.

Despite its visuals being somewhat dated compared to the standards of today, and despite the bugs that are still present in the game, Bethesda’s most popular entry in its beloved series truly is the gift that keeps on giving, largely thanks to its amazing modders. From “Macho Man” Randy Savage, bug fixes and new content, there’s bound to be at least one mod that tickles the fancy of any Skyrim explorer.

Check out the Beyond Skyrim trailer below!

“The next chapter in the highly anticipated Elder Scrolls saga arrives from the makers of the 2006 and 2008 Games of the Year, Bethesda Game Studios. Skyrim reimagines and revolutionises the open-world fantasy epic, bringing to life a complete virtual world open for you to explore any way you choose,” reads the description of Skyrim.

Over a decade in the making, one such mod, or we should say a collection of mods, is the mammoth that is Beyond Skyrim, which is basically a massive unofficial expansion and collaboration with some of the community's most talented indie developers.

Beyond Skyrim allows you to travel beyond the borders of Skyrim’s version of Tamriel to iconic locations of previous games such as Morrowind, Cyrodiil, and Elsweyr, to name a few. It, of course, features new quests, NPCs to interact with, and so much more, and best of all, it’s free to download right now.

Thankfully, unlike many mods, Beyond Skyrim is compatible with the Xbox version of the game as well as PC with its installation process explained by TheGamer. Sadly, due to Sony’s restrictions on modding, at the time of writing, Beyond Skyrim is not compatible with the PlayStation version.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is out now on PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch.
