You’re likely familiar with what I’m about to say as precisely nothing has changed.

The Elder Scrolls VI isn’t set to land anytime soon.

Development should be well underway, especially as efforts can be reduced on Starfield now that the game’s post-launch expansion Shattered Space has been released.

Beyond that though, The Elder Scrolls VI is pretty much a complete and utter mystery.

There’s believed to be a playable build internally and fan theories suggest the game may be set within Hammerfell, but even that is just a guess.

That’s why many of us are returning to our beloved old-favourite, Skyrim.

Yes, it’s one of the greatest releases of all-time but so too does Skyrim boast a vibrant modding community meaning there’s never a dull moment to be had - if you play on PC.

And this latest mod I’d like to highlight completely transforms the experience turning Skyrim from an action RPG into a zombie survival horror.

It’s been six years since The Elder Scrolls VI’s reveal trailer landed.

‘Shattered - A Post Apocalyptic Skyrim LE’ is the work of NexusMods user Krijanowsky.

“A broken, mostly empty Skyrim with open cities. Only undead, creatures and animals remain,” teases the creepy synopsis.

“All signs of civilisation” have been carefully removed by the mod’s creator, creating an unsettling quiet when exploring, only interrupted by the sudden and unsettling appearance of those which go bump in the night.

Cities and villages have been destroyed, with the only company you’ll be able to find being the creatures and spirits that plague the map’s various caves and dungeons.

Of course, you’ll need to be playing on PC to get involved with this one and Krijanowsky warns that “Alternate Start mods are not compatible, since Shattered is one in a way”.

“The game will stall when starting a new game,” they continued.

With that criteria aside, if this sounds to your liking, hop on over to NexusMods where you can download the relevant files for free right now.
