Skyrim Unreal Engine 5 remake looks like real-life

This Skyrim Unreal Engine 5 fan-made remake is so good that it looks like real-life.

I don’t know about you but I remember a time when you were able to count the amount of pixels your video game had back in the day. However, with powerful technology and the use of Unreal Engine 5, games are getting more and more realistic and that is definitely the case for one The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim remake.

Created by Hall 00117 on YouTube, this Skyrim remake trailer gives us a look at what the Riverwood area may look like if the game was made using Unreal Engine 5. Considering it has been way over 10-years since The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim was first released on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, it is safe to say that technology has come a long way since.

Check out The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim below!

However, Hall 00117 gives us just a taste of what the game could look like in 2024 and it seems the project was quite an undertaking. “This is an environment I've been using to work on my photogrammetry workflow, and contains a mixture of my own photo scanned assets and materials, megascans and my own substance materials,” they wrote in the video’s description. “The pine trees were made by me using Speed Tree, and the Spruce trees were from an unreal market asset pack.”

The creator goes on to say the majority of the environment was made in just a few days but they have been adding to it since to build up the area. This means adding more trees, stumps and foliage to make Riverwood feel more realistic. “Almost all of the assets in the scene have nanite enabled and range in polycount from 100,000 to 15 million triangles,” they continue.

You only have to take a look at the short trailer to see how much of an upgrade this is to the much-loved Bethesda title. We see the sun-dappled cobblestone streets, foliage that lightly sways in the breeze and the lush colours and sounds from the nearby rivers.

Hopefully this gives Bethesda a few ideas for a possible remake in the future.
