Skyrim: Lordbound Has Landed, and It's Massive

60+ hours of content

Skyrim fans have another reason to revisit the game, as a massive expansion titled Lordbound has just been released.

With nearly 14 years of content added, both official and unofficial, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has proven to be the game that keeps on giving.

Modded Skyrim playthroughs have basically become a staple of the game at this point, and the new release of Lordbound should be enough to keep you busy for a year. Or even until The Elder Scrolls 6 is out.

Let’s dive into what makes this fan-made expansion so large.

Lordbound adds a new region, Druadach, which is described as “larger than Solstheim” and “filled with quests, dungeons, events and activities for you to enjoy.”

This includes 40 quests, many of them found in the various settlements around Druadach, as well as 50 dungeons to explore and loot. Overall, it’s supposedly around 60 hours of content.

However, Lordbound has also teased that the mod has the “biggest main quest you've ever played in Skyrim, with choices and consequences that change the state of the valley.”

This comes into play with the three factions that are located in the region: the Orcs of Garshakur, the Imperial Legion, and Lord Haelan who is protecting the people of Druadach. It sounds like the main questline will have dramatically different outcomes depending on who you align with.

Of course, Lordbound also includes a huge collection of new weapons, armour, spells, and other items, which you can bring back with you into your main save.

As noted on the mod page, Lordbound is still in a soft-launch state. That means that although it should be largely playable, the team is still testing features and fixing bugs. Voice acting is still being worked on, and the biggest bugs are still being ironed out.

So if you fancy checking it out, be aware of any major bugs which may spoil the experience. Or you could wait until they are fixed. The story of Lordbound is described as follows:

“The drums of war are beating inside the Druadach Valley. After two hundred years of isolation the valley has restored its severed connections to the provinces of Skyrim and High Rock, exposing its withered remains to the rest of Tamriel. Chief Gorek of Garshakur refuses to surrender his mountain fortress to the Imperial Legion, denying them control of the highly-valued trade route between the cities of Jehanna and Solitude.

“As the war wages on, the people of Druadach are forced to seek protection within the walls of Highreach, home of the young Lord Haelan - but even the last bastion of Druadach is threatening to fall at the hands of a mysterious knight of unknown origin, leaving only death in its wake. Whatever the choices are in the end, the fate of the valley rests in the hands of champions both new and old.”
