Skyrim: Anniversary Edition Re-Cut restores lost content, free to download now

PC players can download a mod for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim that restores loads of cut content to the game, and it’s free.

While Bethesda is yet to announce another version of Skyrim, mark my words one is almost definitely on the way. That studio just cannot resist one more version.

Check out the teaser trailer for the next Elder Scrolls game below.

In the meantime, players can enjoy the most up-to-date version, Skyrim: Anniversary Edition, which is apparently missing loads of planned content that never made the final cut.

Thanks to a new mod though you can restore all of that cut content, and while it doesn’t necessarily change the game, it still adds a little bit more to do if you’re one of the players who’s seen and done everything it has to offer.

It’s called Anniversary Edition Re-Cut and it restores several locations, items and even NPCs that can’t be found in the base game.

While the mod definitely works on PC, you’ll have to check if it works with the PlayStation and Xbox versions of the game, but if it’s available as part of the Creation Club, it should be compatible. It can also merge with an existing save file too so no need to start a new playthrough, unless you want to.

Added content includes items to decorate your homestead with, new clothes, some vampire and daedra NPCs to talk to as well as the Emperor’s Homestead, which is fully decorated.

This mod is described by its creator as the most “extensive” cut content mod available at the moment, so it’s worth a try if you want to see what Bethesda didn’t fancy including in the full game.

Similar mods are available for other games too, like The Witcher 3 which can have new quests added through the dev kit that was recently made available on Steam.

Whether you fancy a new adventure or just like following the development process for your favourite games, these mods are definitely worth checking out.
