It looks like we might be getting a couple of new Silent Hill remasters, according to a new teaser posted online.
It’s nice to know we’re in a bit of a Silent Hill renaissance at the moment, what with the recent Silent Hill 2 remake receiving plenty of applause, plus the upcoming Silent Hill f and Return to Silent Hill.
Then, there’s also Silent Hill: Townfall and Bloober Team’s remake of the very first game in the series, which don’t have release dates yet but are still expected in the future.
It’s refreshing as a fan of the games to finally be in a period where new Silent Hill projects are coming out pretty frequently. But that’s not all.

A new teaser posted online by digital distributor GOG (Good Old Games) has also hinted at the possibility of classic Silent Hill games getting the remaster treatment for modern platforms.
On 17th July, the company posted a new video on its YouTube channel titled “This game shaped me”. The video, which appears to be computer-generated, shows a Sony PlayStation hooked up to an old CRT television in an old ‘90s-style bedroom.

The TV screen is emitting an image from the original Silent Hill, which was released on the PlayStation back in 1999.
The video pans over several messages, presumably from GOG’s community members, sharing their experiences with the original game.
The camera then goes to the TV screen showing Silent Hill, with the message, “Remember how it felt? Vote to bring it back. Dreamlist, powered by GOG.”
GOG Dreamlist is an initiative by the company to have community members vote on remasters and ports of older games they’d like to see made available.

It’s particularly aimed at games that have since become hard to acquire because they’re no longer for sale anywhere else, or games that currently don’t have a DRM-free version available.
Thanks to GOG’s preservation efforts, games like the classic Resident Evil trilogy, Devil May Cry 1-4, and Diablo have made their way over to the storefront and can be played on modern systems.
So it now seems that Silent Hill may be up next for this treatment, but only if the game gets enough votes on the Dreamlist. These ports can be pretty expensive, especially since Silent Hill never had a native PC port, so it makes sense why GOG and Konami would gauge audience interest first before putting in the work.

Silent Hill currently has over 94,000 votes on GOG Dreamlist, so be sure to register and vote if you’d also like to see the game re-released for modern PCs.
Considering GOG is a PC-only client, it’s unlikely for this port to hit other platforms like PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Never say never, though.
The YouTube video also has Silent Hill 2 listed within the hashtags, so it’s possible GOG may also be targeting that game for a new PC re-release. Since that game was already released on PC, and is very playable thanks to the rather excellent fan-made Enhanced Edition mod, it should be easier to do.
Silent Hill 2 has over 95,000 votes on GOG Dreamlist, so it seems both games pretty much have the same kind of demand.

We’ll keep our fingers crossed that GOG and Konami decide to re-release the original Silent Hill for PC. Although a remake is in development in the same vein as Silent Hill 2, it’d be nice to have the original game available too.
