It’s a lonely time being a cowboy, especially in Red Dead Redemption, which has no features for buddying up with your mates and roaming the Wild West.
However, that might not be the case for very much longer, as there is a mod in alpha stages that aims to bring co-op and multiplayer shenanigans to Rockstar Games' classic game.
'RDRMP' is a mod similar to 'FiveM' for GTA V and 'MTA' for GTA: San Andreas, in that it opens up the chance for multiplayer lobbies and servers.

Of course, this is for PC only, and it should be noted that it’s very early in the development cycle for modder K3rhos.
The new mod uses LUA programming to allow for custom servers, but what does that mean for the players?
Essentially, once the mod gathers steam, it will allow developers to create servers where all rules and game modes are flexible.
They can even implement entirely new gameplay features for players to experience something fresh.

You can download the mod now, but as it’s in such early stages, there are plenty of bugs and glitches present, but these will get ironed out over the coming months.
We’re hoping that by the end of 2025, there will be some bare-bones co-op options available, with some light multiplayer action to be seen, which could tide you over until the blockbuster release of GTA VI in May 2026.
The game’s sequel, Red Dead Redemption 2, saw a huge online mode that became a game in and of itself, and has seen millions of players log in to hunt wildlife, raid bandit camps, and more.
In the hands of the right modders and developers, this multiplayer mod could end up creating a similar vibe for the older game, expanding it greatly for those who are craving that cowboy life.
