Red Dead Redemption 2 modders add small map expansion you can grab now

The world just got a little bigger

Red Dead Redemption 2 is already a rich tapestry of experiences, yet there are elements of the game that feel sparse.

Don’t get us wrong, there isn’t much we don’t love about this Rockstar Games’ adventure.

However, there are times when it feels a little too barren in places.

Although Rockstar isn’t about to add new content other than via Red Dead Online, fans are more than happy to keep Arthur’s journey going for as long as possible.

One way they’re doing this is via the ‘Colter’ expansion.

Look how much Red Dead Redemption 2's Colter has changed

This is only a small expansion when compared with other available mods, yet it breathes life into a location devoid of “interactive elements”.

Colter is, undoubtedly, a settlement in Red Dead Redemption 2 that leaves a lot to be desired.

Having been abandoned, it’s a great spot to camp, albeit a rather lonely experience for Arthur.

Created by modder RedPeds, ‘Colter’ populates the once dead town with “various characters and animals, each engaging in unique activities and scenarios.”

Thanks to RedPeds’ efforts, you can “experience a more vibrant and immersive atmosphere as you explore this now bustling area.”

Despite being in its infancy, this NexusMods download has already been well received by fans.

“Great work, as always,” commented @RyuHazaki on YouTube, “Thank you for bringing this game more life.”

Another user spoke of how the original Colter's lack of content “made sense”, but that it was “way too unpopulated”.

All in all, many would describe ‘Colter’ as a “great addition” to the game.

Even though there’s life in the ol’ girl yet, many are looking to the future of the franchise, specifically Red Dead Redemption 3.

It turns out that a teaser for the next instalment has been staring us in the face for years, we just didn’t realise it.

Embarrassing though that may be, at least we can soften the blow of our ignorance by exploring the newly modded Colter settlement.
