Mass Effect: Unification is the ME shooter we always wanted

We’re all well aware of the fact that while, yes, a new Mass Effect instalment is in development, it’s also several years away from launch.

Instead, BioWare is hard at work on Dragon Age: The Veilguard.

We know that the next Mass Effect game will follow on from Mass Effect 3, following the original trilogy’s linear/hub world set-up as opposed to Andromeda’s open world approach.

Previous teasers have revealed that Liara T’Soni is back, seemingly as are the Geth and Krogans.

It’s likely that our next teaser will drop on this year’s edition of N7 Day which, to state the possible obvious, falls on 7 November.

In the meantime, PC gamers can keep themselves occupied with ‘Mass Effect - Unification’, an incredible conversion mod for Star Wars Battlefront II that totally transforms the game into a Mass Effect shooter.

Created by Frayed Wires Studios and uploaded to NexusMods by Marth8880, ‘Mass Effect - Unification’ will allow Battlefront II players to pick a variety of factions.

Those are the Systems Alliance, Heretic Geth, Collectors, or Evolved Geth - and you can play across six brand new custom maps.

All in all, there are 25 playable unit classes and nine playable hero classes, plus developers also added a new custom HUD, authentic sound effects from the Mass Effect franchise, and various other hand-crafted assets to make one stellar experience.

It goes without saying that you’ll need to be playing Star Wars Battlefront II on PC to get involved.

If you can give this mod a whirl though, you totally should.

“This mod is amazing. It looks like a completely different game,” read a third review.
