Mass Effect fans heartbroken as new game pulled after 6 years of development

Haven't we suffered enough?!

We came so close to greatness; alas, it wasn’t meant to be.

This isn’t the first time Mass Effect fans have been left with broken hearts, however, they had hoped that such anguish was a thing of the past.

The experience in question took six years to make, yet all that hard work was undone in just a single day.

Many expansions have been created, not just for BioWare’s Mass Effect, but for Bethesda’s Fallout 4, as well.

It’s a Fallout 4 mod, in particular, that’s at the heart of this woeful tale.

Where will the next Mass Effect take us?

‘Mass Effect Evolution - A Total Fallout 4 Overhaul’ was designed by Tamlers to bring the sci-fi RPG we love so much into the post-apocalyptic danger zone of Fallout.

A match made in heaven.

Such a match was never meant to be, however.

Within a day, the mod was removed from NexusMods, with Tamlers citing the use of certain animations as the reason for its removal.

Even though the modder credited their sources, they didn’t have permission to use these animations.

However, while this has proven to be a lethal blow to the expansion, Tamlers is undeterred.

Although shelved for now, the modder intends to be back up and running once they have permission to use the animations that are at the root of this debacle.

As far as many are concerned, though, the damage has already been done.

“Make sure you get your permissions before taking someone else's work,” posted Redditor Weltallgaia in response to the new ME title being pulled.

Someone else said, “No actually this is on the modder 100%. The Nexus is extremely strict about content ripped from other games and has from day 1.”

There was so much potential in this new experience, but now it’s nothing but a dramatic mess until it’s fixed.

Assuming it even gets fixed – permission still needs to be given for this project to come back from the dead.

One day we’ll be able to enjoy nice things without fear of getting burnt, but not today. Today we mourn another ME loss.
