If you’re a fan of Fallout: New Vegas and/or the Mass Effect trilogy, this game is exactly what you’ll want to play next.

It’s not a stretch to say Fallout: New Vegas is the best Fallout game, and it’s in dire need of a sequel or spin-off especially with the Fallout TV show’s second season being set in New Vegas itself.

If you took Fallout: New Vegas though and injected some sci-fi goodness like in Mass Effect you’d get The Outer Worlds, another game made by Obsidian Entertainment that you can play for free right now.

Said to basically be Fallout but on an intergalactic scale, The Outer Worlds lets players lose on a variety of planets as they choose their own adventure. It functions similarly to the Fallout games but obviously because it wasn’t made by Bethesda some creative changes had to be made.

Despite not being a runaway success it still performed well, so much so that a sequel is in development that could rival Starfield in its scope and performance.

If you haven’t played The Outer Worlds and have been reluctant to buy it outright you’ll be happy to hear you can try it for free with no strings attached, only on PC though.

Amazon Prime Gaming is currently offering another batch of freebies, including the open-world RPG, Warhammer 40k Space Marine 2, and Megaman 11. This is part of the company’s marketing for the new Secret Level anthology series, which is exclusive to Amazon Prime Video.

Over 20 games are currently available to try for free in celebration of the series, so now’s a great time to get stuck in and try out some titles you were on the fence about if any apply.

Definitely give The Outer Worlds a go though, it really feels like a spiritual successor to Fallout: New Vegas.
